Where to begin

Discover your Tanzania

Most people arrive with one thing in mind, the migration, the summit, the beach, and build the rest around it. Start wherever you like.

Explore Tanzania

The parks, and how they connect

Tanzania's northern circuit sits within a day's drive of Arusha. Zanzibar and Pemba are a short flight east.

Three routes to Uhuru Peak

They differ in length, in how gradually they let you acclimatise, and in where you sleep. Those three things decide how a trek actually goes.

  • Marangu: 7 days, sleeping in huts
  • Machame: 8 days, camping
  • Lemosho: 10 days, the longest approach
  • Minimum age 12. Group size up to 12 trekkers.

How planning works

From first message to confirmed booking

Send your enquiry

Tell us what you would like to experience. Reviewing our journeys and destination guides first helps you describe the trip you have in mind.

Choose your starting point

Pick one of our ready journeys or ask for something tailor-made, and give us your preferred dates and group size.

Talk it through

We discuss the options with you and suggest variations, by message, call or email, whichever suits you.

We check availability

Once the plan is right we confirm group departures or lodge availability, hold provisional reservations, and propose alternatives where something is full.

Not sure what you want yet?

Answer six or seven questions and we will suggest the journey that fits: which parks, how long, what time of year, and whether to add the coast. It takes about two minutes.

You can send the result straight to us on WhatsApp or by email, and a Clerisa specialist will prepare a personalised quotation.

The advisor does not quote prices. A Clerisa specialist prepares every quotation personally.

Zanzibar and Pemba

The coast, after the parks

Most travellers finish on the coast. Stone Town for the history and the food, the north for the beaches, and Pemba if you want somewhere genuinely quiet.

  • Short flight from the Serengeti or Arusha
  • Stone Town, Nungwi and Kendwa
  • Diving and snorkelling on the reefs
  • Can be added to any mainland journey

Worth knowing

Tanzania, in short

A few things that shape when you should come and where you should go. Each links to a fuller guide.

The Great Migration

Well over a million wildebeest, with zebra and gazelle alongside them, move in a continuous loop between the Serengeti and the Maasai Mara. Where they are depends entirely on when you travel.

When to see it

Africa’s highest point

Kilimanjaro is the tallest free-standing mountain in the world. Uhuru Peak sits at 5,895 m, reached over seven to ten days depending on the route.

Compare the routes

The Ngorongoro Crater

The largest unbroken volcanic caldera on earth, and one of the few places in Tanzania where black rhino are seen with any regularity.

About Ngorongoro

Swahili coast culture

Stone Town is a UNESCO World Heritage site, built on centuries of trade between Africa, Arabia, Persia and Europe.

Why Clerisa

A Tanzanian company, planning Tanzanian journeys

We are based in Arusha, which is where almost every northern-circuit safari begins. That means we are not coordinating your trip from another continent. We are in the same town as the vehicles, the guides and the park gates.

We handle wildlife safaris, Kilimanjaro treks, Zanzibar and cultural travel ourselves, so a trip that combines them stays with one company from the first message to the airport transfer home.

About Clerisa

Travel trade and partners

Ground handling, custom itineraries and Zanzibar extensions for agencies, tour operators and travel advisors working into Tanzania.
