Who we are

Clerisa Safari Limited is a travel company based in Arusha, Tanzania. When you send us an enquiry we decide what happens to the information you give us, which makes us the data controller under the Personal Data Protection Act, 2022.

What we collect

Your name, email address, and optionally a WhatsApp or phone number. The country you are travelling from. Your travel dates, trip length, the number of adults and children and the children’s ages. What you would like to see and do, and any dietary or accessibility needs you mention. Anything you write to us. Your answers if you choose to use the AI Tourism Advisor.

We do not ask for and do not want passport numbers, card or bank details, or copies of identity documents through this website.

Why we use it

To reply to your enquiry and suggest journeys that fit, on the basis of your consent. To prepare a personalised quotation. To arrange your trip once you book, which means telling lodges and guides who is coming. To keep the records the law requires. To keep the website working and stop spam.

We do not sell your information. We do not pass it to advertisers or data brokers, and we do not add you to a marketing list because you enquired.

Who else sees it

Clerisa staff in Arusha. Google Workspace, which hosts our mailbox. Our website host, which stores a copy of each enquiry so nothing is lost if an email fails. Lodges, camps, guides and airlines, but only once you have booked and only the details needed to hold your reservation. The AI Tourism Advisor, if you use it.

Some of these store information on servers outside Tanzania. We keep what leaves Tanzania to the minimum needed to run our email and our website.

The AI Tourism Advisor

The advisor is optional. Your answers about the kind of trip you want are sent to an AI service so it can phrase a recommendation. Your name, email address and phone number are not sent to it. The recommendation itself is worked out by our own matching rules. Your answers are not used to train anyone’s model.

How long we keep it

We keep your information only for as long as we need it. Enquiries are kept while we are helping you plan and for a reasonable period afterwards. Booking records are kept for as long as the law requires. Security logs are kept briefly.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold and get a copy, correct anything wrong, ask us to delete it, withdraw your consent, object to how we are using it, or complain to the Personal Data Protection Commission.

Email karibu@clerisasafari.com with “Data request” in the subject. We reply within 30 days, at no charge. The Commission is at pdpc.go.tz.

How we protect it

The whole website runs over an encrypted connection. Enquiries are stored outside the public area of our web server. Access is limited to staff who need it. Our forms are protected against automated abuse.

If something goes wrong and your information is affected, we will tell the Commission promptly and tell you if it is likely to affect you.

Children

This website is meant for adults planning travel. We do not knowingly collect information directly from anyone under 18. Where you tell us children’s ages, that comes from you as the parent or guardian and is used only to advise on suitability.

Changes

If we change how we handle your information we will update this page and change the date above.
